BMW confirm race numbers for newcomers Philipp Eng and Joel Eriksson

BMW Motorsport has announced the race numbers that their drivers will sport during the 2018 season, with rookies Philipp Eng and Joel Eriksson choosing from the available pool.

Team RMG’s driver line-up remain unchanged with Marco Wittmann, Augusto Farfus and Timo Glock on board. The trio will race again with numbers 11, 15 and 16 respectively.

Both newcomers will race for Team RBM alongside experienced 2012 champion Bruno Spengler who will keep his traditional number 7 on his M4 DTM.

Eng has chosen number 25 for his DTM debut, an iconic number for the Bavarian manufacturer as it was the number of Team RLL’s M6 GTLM and M8 GTE in the IMSA series, as well as the race number of the winning M3 GT2 at the 2010 Nürburgring 24 Hours.

“It is very special for me to have this iconic number on my BMW M4 DTM. I will line up proudly in the number 25,” said Eng.

Eriksson, however, has stayed faithful to his racing beginnings, choosing number 47: “I had this number in karting and was crowned Swedish kart champion with the number 47. That is why I went for 47 again.”
