BTC Norlin to run TOCA engines in their new Honda Civics in 2018

The BTC Norlin Racing team will continue their association with the TOCA engine provider Swindon Powertrain in 2018, running the engine in their two Honda Civics for James Nash and Chris Smiley this season.

While independent Honda rivals Eurotech Racing make the switch the other way, running the Neil Brown Engines-tuned Honda K20C1 Type R engine in their ninth-generation Civic FK2s, BTC Norlin Racing will run the Swindon engine in their cars, meaning the two of Team Dynamics’ customer teams in 2018 will benefit from different engine equivalency calculations.

Team Dynamics themselves have not yet confirmed their car for this season, it’s strongly expected they’ll debut a tenth-generation Civic FK8 Type R, also equipped with the K20C1 Type R engine for Dan Cammish and Matt Neal, meaning three separate configurations of Honda Civic on the grid in 2018.

Although no formal announcement by the BTC Norlin Racing team has been made, a social media conversation between new driver James Nash and Swindon Powertrain managing director Raphael Caille confirmed the set up on Saturday, with Nash having won his 2011 independent drivers’ title in a Swindon-powered Triple Eight-run Vauxhall Vectra in the first year of the Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) engine regulations.
