Luca Engstler to run in TCR Asia

Liqui Moly Team Engstler has announced that Luca Engstler will take its second seat for the 2018 TCR Asia Series.

The German secured the TCR Middle East title last month to become the youngest champion in TCR history so far – with three wins in five races being enough to give him the crown.

That followed a successful season in the ADAC TCR Germany Series last year, where he wrapped up the Rookie Trophy. A return to the series for a second season has already been confirmed.

Engstler will partner Diego Moran, who was announced earlier this week, in the Asia Series – with a third driver for the to be announced in due course.

“Winning the Middle East title has been a powerful motivation for Luca,” Engstler Motorsport Marketing Director Kurt Treml said. “For a young driver like him is very important to amass as many kilometres as possible in racing. And this is the reason why we had the idea of entering him in TCR Asia that has no clashing dates with the TCR Germany calendar.

“He will form a strong team with Diego and will have the chance of knowing new racetracks.”
