Four-car incident will be reviewed in the coming race

The four-car incident in the final race of the Supercars weekend in Melbourne that saw Walkinshaw Andretti United driver James Courtney and Nissan Motorsport driver Rick Kelly retire will be reviewed by the stewards in the coming race weekend at Symmons Plains.

The involved drivers other than Courtney and Kelly were Garry Rogers Motorsport driver James Golding and Erebus Motorsport driver Lee Holdsworth.

Golding tagged Courtney into a spin, with Kelly and Holdsworth getting caught and had to pit for repairs. Also involved were Tim Blanchard and Anton De Pasquale, both being right on the tail of Golding while braking for the corner and could have contributed to the incident.

The stewards report stated:

“The incident involving Cars #34, James Golding, Car #21, Tim Blanchard, Car #99, Anton de Pasquale 2 and Car #25, James Courtney, remains under investigation and it will be reconvened at the next round of the Championship.”

De Pasquale was also involved in another incident on the first lap with Tickford Racing driver Cameron Waters. De Pasquale received a five-second penalty for the incident.
