Daniel Juncadella breaks his collarbone in mountain bike accident

Mercedes AMG driver Daniel Juncadella has broken his collarbone in a mountain bike accident, despite this he’s still set to participate in the official DTM test at Hockenheim next week.

The Spaniard was training in Ibiza in preparation for his return to the series when he had an accident on Saturday afternoon. Initially, he thought nothing of it, discovering only later that he had suffered a fracture in his collarbone.

Juncadella flew back home immediately and was operated on by MotoGP doctor Xavier Mir, and was back to full strength only 48 hours after his accident.

“When I had the accident, I just thought: oh man, now maybe the season is over for me. But fortunately it was not that bad and 48 hours later I was fine again given the circumstances,” said Juncadella.

The 26-year old will participate in the official DTM test.at Hockenheim under careful watch from his doctor: “I will try it carefully and also bring my doctor. The decisive factor will be how I feel in the car. This also includes checking that the seat belts are pressing too hard on my collarbone or scar. The stitches will be removed the week after the test.”
