Facundo Ardusso and Facundo Chapur win double header in Rosario

Series champion Facundo Ardusso of Renault Sport and Citroën Total Racing’s Facundo Chapur won Super TC 2000’s feature races in Rosario at the “Juan Manuel Fangio” circuit.

Ardusso managed to get an easy win on Saturday afternoon in wet conditions ahead of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Matías Rossi and Team Peugeot Total Argentina’s Mariano Werner.

The 29-year-old reigning champion took the lead at the start after sharing front row with pole sitter Agustín Canapino of Chevrolet YPF. Later, the factory Cruze driver lost some pace and was overtaken by Rossi and Werner. Ardusso crossed the line first in the first race ahead of Rossi and Werner, looked strong for Sunday’s qualifying and second feature race.

This round was the first of the four which will form the ‘Grand Slam’ of the season alongside Oberá, Buenos Aires 200 km and season finale in Córdoba.

Chapur, who moved to Citroën Total Racing for this season, claimed the start of the second race from pole position. Rossi tried to challenge him from the front row but stayed in second.

The race underwent quiet during the first laps – only Canapino overtook Werner for third. Later, on lap 12, Rossi suffered hydraulics issues and retired from second.

Chapur won his first race for Citroën Total Racing ahead of Canapino and Leonel Pernía in third place.

Super TC2000 will hold its third round of the season in San Martín in the Mendoza province on April 28th and 29th.
