Bruno Spengler fastest in morning session of day three at Hockenheim

BMW Motorsport driver Bruno Spengler recorded the fastest time in today’s morning session at Hockenheim, on the third day of the official DTM pre-season tests.

The Canadian completed 41 laps to set a best time of 1:32.089, which is also the fastest lap around the Baden-Wüttemberg track since the collective tests started on Monday.

Robin Frijns was second for Audi Sport, just 0.045 seconds off the pace, with 2015 champion and series’ returnee Pascal Wehrlein in third for Mercedes, a tenth behind Spengler.

BMW drivers Augusto Farfus and Marco Wittmann were next, with the twice champion 0.138 seconds off the pace.

Mike Rockenfeller was sixth at the wheel of his Audi RS 5 DTM, followed by the Mercedes of Daniel Juncadella. Audi’s Jamie Green and Mercedes’ Lucas Auer completed the classification, with the Austrian a second behind Spengler.

Testing resumes at 14:00 CET.
