Francisco Abreu confirms Peugeot programme

Francisco Abreu, the winner of the 2017 TCR Ibérico title, has confirmed that he will make the move into TCR Europe for the 2018 campaign.

Abreu, who also finished as runner-up in TCR Portugal, will drive a Peugeot 308TCR run by the Sports&You team in his first season in the series as he seeks to build on the five wins he has taken at national level through the last two years.

“I am very proud to be part of this programme,” the 23-year-old said. “It’s a reward to fifteen years of dedicated commitment, as my dream of racing at an international level comes true.

“I am very grateful to all the people who have worked to grant me this great opportunity and I will do my best to fulfil their expectations.”

Team principal José Pedro Fontes said he was pleased to bring the youngster onboard for 2018.

“Francisco has been the logical choice,” he said. “He’s one of the most promising Portuguese drivers and has experience with TCR. We are confident that together we form a strong team.”
