Tobias Brink happy with pace for opening STCC weekend

Tobias Brink says the team could be happy with their performance during the opening weekend of the STCC at Knutstorp, only counting what could have been in respect of the points table after two driveshaft failures in Race 1.

Brink had qualified fifth and team-mate Micke Ohlsson in sixth, and were running strongly in Race 1 before first Ohlsson, and later Brink, would stop on circuit with driveshaft issues with their Audi RS 3 LMS.

In the second race, the Brink Audis diced with the PWR Racing Cupras in the reversed grid race, with the championship leading Cupras eventually coming out on top.

“If we’re looking at the pace, it was a really good weekend,” said Brink to TouringCarTimes. “Doing quali and finishing fifth in both Q1 and Q2 was very promising, but the race wasn’t very promising, we had two driveshaft failures.

“In Race 2 I missed the start, and it was a rough race. Fighting with (Daniel) Haglöf and (Philip) Morin and those guys. With the reversed grid you need to have a little luck to get through, but instead I had to fight with the fast guys who’d qualified better.

“To be as close as one-tenth to Robert Dahlgren felt really good after quali, but it left us with more to hope for from the races, and we’d really hoped we’d be leaving with more points.”
