No action in Race 2 at rain-flooded Paul Ricard

The second race of the weekend in TCR Italy was stopped after 11 minutes under safety car, as the poor visibility and lack of grip on the rain-flooded tarmac prevented the competition from starting at all.

The stewards decided to award half points for the race, which therefore finished in the starting order, giving Pit Lane Competizioni’s Andrea Larini his first win of the year. BRC Racing’s Federico Paolino finished second, ahead of Target Competition team-mates José Rodrigues, Jürgen Schmarl and Marco Pellegrini.

Matteo Greco finished sixth in his Cupra TCR, ahead of Hyundai stable-mates Eric Scalvini and Nicola Baldan. Giovanni Altoè was ninth, confirming his clean sweep of DSG class wins so far, with fellow DSG competitor Massimiliano Gagliano completing the top ten.

Despite scoring no points this weekend, V-Action’s Luigi Ferrara still leads the championship standings in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR, 1.5 points clear of Salvatore Tavano and Matteo Greco, who share the Cupra TCR entered by SEAT Motorsport Italia. Andrea Larini’s win elevates him to third, eight points off the lead, with Race 1 winner Nicola Baldan dropping to fourth, 10.5 points shy of Ferrara.

Action will resume next month at Misano on June 17th.
