Jaap van Lagen tops the first practice session at Zandvoort

Team WRT’s Jaap van Lagen was fastest of all in the first practice session at Circuit Zandvoort in the Audi RS 3 LMS, leading the Cupra TCR of Mikel Azcona and the Honda Civic Type R TCR of Cedric Piro.

Van Lagen set his best lap of 1:45.226 early on in the 30-minute session, four-tenths of a second clear of the Spaniard Azcona in the PCR Sport-run Cupra, while Piro made a late improvement to put his Autodis Racing by Piro Sports Civic third fastest, over seven-tenths of a second down.

The quickest of the Hyundais, which dominated the opening event of the TCR Europe Touring Car Series two weeks’ ago at Paul Rciard, was Kris Richard, who was fourth fastest for Target Competition, just ahead of the lone Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR of Maxime Potty for Comtoyou Racing.

Daniel Nagy went sixth fastest in his M1RA Hyundai at the end of the session, pipping Reece Barr, the second fastest of the Target Hyundais who was seventh.

Julien Briché, making his season debut this weekend in the JSB Compétition Peugeot 308TCR, was eighth fastest, with championship leader Dusan Borkovic ninth in the Target Hyundai.

Two-time TCR Germany champion Josh Files in the KCMG Honda rounded out the top ten
