Julien Briché hoping for top-five finish in Spa Race 2

In spite of a bad start and a contact at Bus Stop on the second lap, Julien Briché finished fifth in his Peugeot 308TCR in the first race of the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. The JSB Compétition rues his missed opportunities after a disastrous getaway off the line.

“The start was quite bad,” admitted the Frenchman to TouringCarTimes. “Then I also made contact with Danny Kroes at the Bus Stop, he braked a little early and we had a small touch. I was 14th after that and I still managed to finish fifth, so the car was not bad at all.”

Had he had another lap to have a go at fourth-placed Dusan Borkovic, the Peugeot driver believes he could have overtaken the Hyundai.

“I think I would have passed had I had another lap. On the other hand I know Borkovic is fighting for the championship, so it’s never easy in a situation such as this.”

As for tomorrow’s race, Briché is aware he will need a good start and stay out of trouble if he is to have another top-five result.

“If I have a good start tomorrow and the car goes like it did today, I can’t see why we couldn’t have a good race. If we have no accidents I think I can manage a top-five finish.”
