Pedro Salvador takes a full sweep with second victory at Vila Real

Pedro Salvador took his third victory of the season at the wheel of his Cupra TCR run by Speedy Motorsport at Vila Real, leading from the lights until the chequered flag.

Salvador’s lead was unchallenged during the race, with Francisco Carvalho in his Audi in second place, 19 seconds behind. Reigning champion Francisco Abreu completed the podium at the wheel of his Peugeot 308TCR.

Manuel Giao was fourth driving the sole Kia Cee’d, with Salvador’s team-mate, Gustavo Moura’s Audi completing the classification in fifth.

Joao Sousa in his SEAT León retired to the pits after four laps, whilst José Cautela, who shared the Volkswagen Golf that finished on the podium yesterday with Armando Parente, didn’t make the start.

Salvador has now extended his lead to 90 points ahead of Abreu and Rafael Lobato, who are tied in second on 70 points.

The next round of the season takes place at Estoril on September 1-2.
