Jack Goff laments “horrendous” Croft weekend

Jack Goff admitted that the Croft weekend had been ‘horrendous from the word go’ after losing ground in the race for the BTCC title.

The Eurotech driver headed into the fifth meeting of the year sitting twelve points behind points leader Colin Turkington but endured a weekend to forget in North Yorkshire.

Off the pace from the outset, Goff would fail to score in any of the three races and is now 50 points off the pace down in eighth spot.

It would be a tough weekend all round for the Eurotech squad, with 15th for Matt Simpson in race three being the only score for the Honda outfit.

“It’s been a horrendous weekend from the word go,” he said. “From FP1 we have been scratching our heads. We had a problem with the car that has carried on and even though we have tried loads of different stuff, nothing has solved it. To be honest we are very confused about it and don’t know what the answer is.

“Dynamics didn’t have a great day on Saturday but found something for race day and we didn’t. Our car was pretty bad – probably the worst it has ever been – but if you look at last year it was the same story and we didn’t score. That’s six races here and zero points.

“Saying that, we went on to Snetterton last year and put it on pole by half a second. I don’t know why the car doesn’t work round here but it has been the same for all three of us – we’ve all struggled.”

Admitting to being frustrated about the way the weekend had panned out, Goff said he was confident that Eurotech would be back on form when racing resumes after the summer break.

“Coming into the weekend second was good, we’re now eighth and 50 points down which is frustrating,” Goff reflected. “We haven’t really struggled anywhere else so to lose 38 points on the leader here is annoying. However, we know we should come good again at Snetterton after the summer break.”
