Fredrik Ekblom puts his WestCoast Volkswagen on top in Falkenberg Test 2
Fredrik Ekblom ended the second and final practice session of the day fastest, topping the time sheets in the final stages to displace the rival Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR of Johan Kristoffersson, chased by the two PWR Cupras of Philip Morin and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky.
Kristoffersson led the way through much of the session, finding a time just four-thousandths of a second faster than he’d gone in the morning in the KMS Volkswagen Golf.
The rallycross champion’s closest threat was coming from the two younger PWR drivers, with Philip Morin at this point second fastest, just ahead of team-mate Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky.
With just under five minutes to go, Ekblom then went fastest of all in his WestCoast Racing Volkswagen by 0.001 seconds ahead of Kristoffersson, but found more time on his next lap to finish 0.066 seconds clear.
Andreas Ahlberg finished the session fifth in the lone Micke Kågered Racing Volkswagen, with Tobias Brink the fastest of the Audis in sixth.
Hugo Nerman was seventh fastest in his KMS Volkswagen, ahead of the PWR Cupra of Daniel Haglöf, with the Lestrup Volkswagen of Oliver Söderstrom ninth and with the Brink Audi of Micke Ohlsson tenth.
Championship leader Robert Dahlgren just missed the top ten by four-thousandths of a second, finishing 12th, 0.363 down on Ekblom’s time.
The next session is qualifying at 16:45 CEST.
