Amateur division set for introduction in 2019

The World Challenge organisers have announced a amateur division for the 2019 season, running under the TCR-Cup name.

The main class will be open for drivers rated FIA Gold, Silver and Bronze while the TCR-Cup will only be open for Bronze drivers.

“We have had a great initial season with the TCR competition this year,” said class director Jim Jordan to racer.com.

“The TCR cars proved to be fun to drive in 2018 and we wanted to expand this type of vehicle to other racers with less experience. The TCR-Cup class will open up a new option for Touring Car competitors with interest in the TCR vehicles.”

The TCR-Cup class will have Balance of Performance (BoP) regulations controlled by the World Challenge organisers while the main TCR class will continue to use the international TCR BoP rulings.
