Kevin Ceccon joins TCR Italy grid at Vallelunga

Kevin Ceccon will join the TCR Italy grid for the latest round of the series this coming weekend at Vallelunga.

The 24-year-old will be making his debut in the series at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR run by Team Mulsanne, with the race weekend coming on the back of confirmation that he will race with the team through the remainder of the WTCR season.

As well as providing an opportunity to gain more seat time ahead of the final four events of the WTCR season, Ceccon will also be tasked with helping Luigi Ferrara in his bid to secure the championship title.

Ferrara currently sits third in the standings in a V-Action Racing Team-entered car having won three times this season, although he heads to Vallelunga on a poor run of form having scored just one point in the last four races, which leaves him 40,5 points off championship leader Salvatore Tavano.

“I am confident that Kevin and Gigi will be in a position to extract all the potential of our Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR, and Romeo Ferraris’ personnel will be at Vallelunga to support its customer teams,” Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager, said. “For Kevin, it will be useful to be back at the wheel of the car two months after his debut in Slovakia, while Gigi is ready to defend his chances in the final sprint of the championship.”

A former Auto GP champion, Ceccon made his WTCR debut at the Slovakiaring, partnering Fabrizio Giovanardi after Gianni Morbidelli’s departure from the team. He finished sixth in the third race of the weekend.
