Walkinshaw confirm plans for Chevrolet Camaro switch in 2020

Walkinshaw Andretti United has confirmed plans to switch to the Chevrolet Camaro for the 2020 season of the Supercars championship.

“It is definitely the car we want to race in 2020,” said team owner Ryan Walkinshaw to the Daily Telegraph.

The team has already begun design work on the Camaro in Supercars specification.

“We have been doing a lot of work on CAD (computer-aided design) and we are moving into CFD (computational fluid dynamics) now. We are in the second stage after starting our test study earlier this year,” said Walkinshaw.

Connected to Walkinshaw Andretti United’s switch from the Holden Commodore to the Camaro is the recent introduction of a right-hand drive version of the Camaro to the Australian market by sister company HSV, a performance brand for GM in Australia.

Ford will debut the Mustang, a rival model to the Camaro, in the next season of the Supercars championship.
