Dusan Borkovic free to race in TCR Europe finale despite ongoing investigation

Target Competition’s Dusan Borkovic has been allowed to race in this weekend’s TCR Europe series season finale despite an ongoing investigation into his post-race altercation with team members of title rival Mikel Azcona.

The Serbian was disqualified from the previous meeting at Monza after being involved in a physical confrontation with Azcona’s team, with Borkovic later issuing an apology for his behaviour and actions.

The incident was referred to the Portuguese ASN, although no decision has been made public as to the severity of Borkovic’ punishment.

TouringCarTimes has reached out to TCR Europe for an official statement on the circumstances surrounding Borkovic’s penalty, but as yet there is no official statement planned.

It is understood that the Portuguese ASN referred the incident to the FIA and the Serbian ASN, but are still awaiting an official response.

Borkovic currently trails Azcona by 30 points in the championship standings, with 50 still available from the weekend’s two races. The Hyundai i30 N TCR driver lines up fourth on the grid for the opening race, which is scheduled to take place at 17:30 CEST today.
