Norbert Michelisz “will go for victory” in TCR Europe finale in Barcelona

M1RA co-owner Norbert Michelisz says he will go all out for victory in his one-off TCR Europe series appearance in Barcleona after taking a podium in Race 1.

The Hungarian, who created the team with Team Principal David Bari, finished third on his first run in the European championship yesterday and is aiming to go better in the second race.

“To be honest, my main goal [for Race 2] is to win the race, there’s nothing to lose. I would like to go for the podium, but I would like to go for the win,” Michelisz told TouringCarTimes.

“To be on the podium is always nice, there was the possibility to join the team for this race and I just went for it. I’m not so involved this year as I am quite busy at home and obviously with WTCR.”

Although Michelisz is concentrating on his WTCR campaign, he admitted to using this weekend’s TCR Europe series finale as another chance to gain track time ahead of next weekend’s trip to Suzuka.

Michelisz added: “Of course for me, the main priority for me is the WTCR so I also used this for a bit of a test as well. In the end, I am happy, it’s a really nice feeling.”

“I think it’s a quality grid in TCR Europe. If you look at the number of cars, that already tells you that you need to have some quality drivers in there. The fights in the races were tough, the fights were fair and I gave it my best. I enjoyed it a lot!”
