Jocke Mangs: “We will be closer in the next race”

Citroën driver Jocke Mangs secured two eighth place finishes from the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season opener at Knutstorp.
“We got important points with us and I am convinced that we are going to be a lot closer on race pace in the next race,” said Mangs.

Mangs showed strong form in qualifying, securing fourth on the grid for the first race, only to lose four places in the race.
“I lost two places in the start and was behind Ekblom for a couple of laps, things felt okay. But the more laps that passed and the car got worse to handle. I had to back off not to go off track and I ended up eighth, of course something I am not pleased with,” said Mangs.

The second race saw Mangs starting eighth and finishing on the same position, despite having a good start.
“I had the shot of getting out of the first corner as car 6-7, but the cars ahead of me bunched up and I dropped to ninth. I fought back up ti eighth, but I lost a lot of ground to those a head of me. I had a good pace, but then I dropped back again like in the first race towards the end of the race,” said Mangs.

Next up for Mangs and the other drivers is Solvalla, a track new to most of the teams and drivers of the field.
“Knutstorp is a tough track to get the car right for and it is no doubt that Volvo and BMW had an advantage there. Next is Solvalla in a month and all teams head there with a white sheet of paper,” said Mangs.
