AmD Tuning to skip Rockingham

The AmD Tuning team are skipping the Rockingham race meeting this weekend.

Shaun Hollamby’s squad, which is now running a Honda Civic for James Kaye in the Jack Sears Trophy, also missed the last round at Knockhill due to the veteran driver aggravating a knee injury.

The team’s absence means the battle for S2000 honours is now a two-horse race, between Lea Wood in the JWT Performance Vauxhall Vectra, and Liam Griffin in the Motorbase Performance Ford Focus.

Wood currently leads on ten trophy wins to Griffin’s six, and Kaye was the only man who could mathematically overhaul them – but only if he won all the nine remaining races.

It has been a frustrating season for Kaye and AmD, with a good start to the season at Brands Hatch in the Volkswagen Golf – and good pace overall – masked by numerous reliability woes.

The team switched to the Civic for the Snetterton meeting, but only completed one of the races.
