Gallery: Thrills and spills at Knockhill
With its tight, twisty and undulating layout, not to mention the unpredictable weather, Knockhill usually offers up plenty of drama when the touring cars visit. And 2014 was no exception.
TouringCarTimes photographers PSP Images captured all the action north of the border, and below is a selection of the best shots from the weekend.
First up is Eurotech Racing’s Andrew Jordan in typically spectacular mode, as he takes on Knockhill’s infamous chicane.
West Surrey Racing’s Nick Foster was given a reprimand for this incident with Glynn Geddie in race one, denying the Scot his best BTCC finish on his home circuit.
Rotek Racing’s Robb Holland limps his Audi S3 back to the pits after taking contact from Dan Welch in the first race.
BTC Racing’s Chris Stockton goes for a spin in his Chevrolet Cruze on Saturday.
The wet track in second practice caught out JWT Performance’s Lea Wood, with his spin bringing out the red flag.
Robb Holland again, hinting at a second career in motorcycle racing as he gets airborne in qualifying. The American later admitted he thought he was going to roll the car.
Exit stage right, Aron Smith. The Irishman ended up in the tyre barriers after clashing with Nick Foster on the run up to the line in race two.
Dan Welch’s Proton Gen-2 sporting damage in race one, after leaping over the kerbs and hitting Robb Holland. The Welch Motorsport man was give an reprimand for the incident.
Aron Smith in the wars again, grass cutting in the final race in his Volkswagen CC.
The incident caused Smith to retire from the race, and he was seen trackside wafting the bonnet up and down to try and cool the overheating Team BMR machine.
The final word on the weekend goes to championship leader Colin Turkington, who recovered from his race one retirement to bag a podium in the final race. The next instalment in the dramatic 2014 season takes place at Rockingham next weekend.
