Fredrik Larsson wins but Thed Björk is the 2014 STCC champion

Fredrik Larsson claimed his first ever STCC victory for BMW Dealer Team WestCoast Racing in the penultimate STCC race of 2014. But the victory was not enough as Volvo Polestar Racing driver Thed Björk crossed the line in fourth position and secured his second consecutive STCC title.

Larsson started from third position on the grid but made his way past Kia driver Linus Ohlsson and Andreas Wernersson early on.

Action was thick behind Larsson who pulled up a gap of over five seconds. Wernersson managed to fend off team mate Ohlsson to finish second, with the duo securing two podium finishes for Team Kia Racing.

Björk started from ninth position but made progress early on in the race. He did not seem to take the defensive driving as many predicted ahead of the race, but was involved in several close fights.

The Volvo driver made his way past Saab driver Daniel Haglöf, who dropped from second place on the grid after a sluggish start, in the final part of the race. Haglöf finished fifth with Fredrik Ekblom in sixth position, meaning that the Volvo driver lost the chance to snatch second position in the championship from Larsson.

Richard Göransson failed to get his Saab going in time for the warm up lap and had to start from last position. The Team Tidö driver fought his way to seventh position ahead of Philip Forsman, Mattias Andersson and Emma Kimiläinen.

The race was interrupted once due to a safety car period as Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte spun off track in the first corner and retired from the race.

The final STCC race of 2014 starts 15:25 CET with first, second and third position set in the championship with Björk as champion, Larsson runner-up and Ekblom third.
