Marcos Ambrose gets number 66 for Sydney

The Dick Johnson Racing/Penske Racing wildcard entry for the Sydney 500 season finale with Marcos Ambrose will run number 66, a number of significance for the involved.

Number 66 is in recognition of the 66th V8 Supercars race for Ambrose at Sydney Olympic Park, as well as recognition of Team Penske driver Mark Donohue who had that number for Penske Racing’s first Indy 500 victory in 1972.

Ambrose is going to race a brand new Ford Falcon in Sydney as preparation ahead of his full-time return in the 2015 V8 Supercars season.

“I have a few races to go to finish off my NASCAR career but then I am jumping straight on the plane to get some testing and track time with the DJR Falcon prior to Sydney. I have been knocked out by the interest this has generated and the response from the fans has been terrific. Sydney is going to be a tough re entry but I can’t wait,” Ambrose.
