Robert Dahlgren leads Scott McLaughlin in Skövde Test 2

Polestar Cyan Racing held the top three positions for the second test session in a row at the Skövde airport circuit, with Robert Dahlgren leading the way as he had in the first test, breaking the circuit’s lap record with a time of 49.647, finishing just 0.039 ahead of New Zealand’s Scott McLaughlin.

The third-placed Volvo S60 of Richard Göransson set the early running before both McLaughlin, then Dahlgren took over at the top of the time sheets, with Dahlgren setting his record breaker within the first ten minutes of the session.

McLaughlin came back with just under ten minutes to go to move from third to second, splitting the two STCC regulars, while Linus Ohlsson was the closest challenger to the Swedish marque, putting his Flash Engineering Saab 9-3 in fourth, almost half a second off of Dahlgren’s pace.

The PWR Racing SEATs were struggling with brake issues in the morning session, with just two of the three cars of Johan Kristofferson and Emma Kimiläinen joining the session, both after ten minutes had been run. Kristoffersson would end up fifth fastest in his SEAT León, with Kimiläinen eighth, while team owner/driver Daniel Haglöf would not take part.

The Brovallen Ford Mondeo of Rasmus Mårthen was slightly faster than it was in the first test, but it was still the slowest of the cars to set a lap, 1.5 seconds from Dahlgren’s pace.

Next up is qualifying, which starts at 16:55 CET, which will set the grid for both of tomorrow’s races.
