Reuben Kressner apologises for Race 2 crash with Scott McLaughlin

Flash Engineering driver Reuben Kressner has apologised for the incident in Race 2 at the STCC season opener in Skövde, when the 19-year-old careered into Scott McLaughlin’s Volvo S60 at the hairpin on lap six, eliminating both cars, as well as team-mate Linus Ohlsson from the race.

Kressner was handed a five-place grid penalty for the next round of the championship at Mantorp Park on May 26th for the incident, which destroyed the front end of his Saab 9-3 and the rear-right of McLaughlin’s Volvo.

“It was entirely my fault and I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to Scott McLaughlin and his fans,” said Kressner.

“Needless to say, it was absolutely not intentional, and I feel particularly bad for Scott who had travelled from the other side of the world to come and join us for this event. I was focussing too hard on what was going on in my fight with (Robert) Dahlgren, missed my braking point and ran deep into the corner. I tried to avoid hitting anybody, but unfortunately it was too late. I fully accept and understand the stewards’ decision for Mantorp Park and will learn from this mistake.”
