Richard Göransson dominates Race 1 at Mantorp Park

Richard Göransson dominated the first STCC race at Mantorp Park from start to finish. The Volvo driver started from pole and crossed the line a full six seconds ahead of STCC debutante Björn Wirdheim in second position.

Pole sitter Wirdheim made a poor getaway, seeing Göransson storm into the lead and SEAT driver Johan Kristoffersson claiming second place.

Kristoffersson and Wirdheim were close for the entire race, but without any real attempts by the Saab driver in third place. It was not until the last corner of the last lap that the Flash Engineering driver made his move, getting past Kristoffersson to claim second place in his first ever STCC race.

SEAT driver Kristoffersson crossed the line in third place, just 0.188 seconds behind Wirdheim.

Daniel Haglöf claimed his best finish of the season in fourth position for SEAT Dealer Team PWR Racing.

Polestar Cyan Racing driver Robert Dahlgren had a lonely race in fourth position, now sharing the championship lead with team mate and race winner Göransson on 90 points.

Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte crossed the line in sixth position with Dacia Dealer Team driver Mattias Andersson in seventh.

Nissan driver Linus Ohlsson provided the second overtaking manoeuvre of the race, getting past Brovallen Design’s Rasmus Mårthen for eighth place.

Reuben Kressner broke a driveshaft in the start and was forced into retirement. The second race of the day starts at 21:00 CET.
