Robert Dahlgren: ”I am thoroughly disappointed”

Robert Dahlgren headed to STCC at Falkenberg in the championship lead but left it a full 47 points behind his team-mate and title rival Richard Göransson who won both races.

“I am thoroughly disappointed to have two non-finishes that were beyond my control. It feels even worse as I really felt we had the potential to challenge for the win in both races,” said Dahlgren.

The Polestar Cyan Racing driver qualified second in Q1 and fourth in Q2, positions he could not convert to results in the race.

The first race saw a controversial clash between him and SEAT driver Emma Kimiläinen, an incident the latter was penalised for.

”You can’t even overtake there. She must have misjudged the situation completely,” said Dahlgren.

The second race meant a second DNF as he retired from a puncture, once again parking his car in the first corner.

The double retirement has taken a huge blow to Dahlgren’s title hopes, something that might already be out of his reach with his WTCC commitment for the Volvo team.

”The only consolation is that the “right” driver claimed maximum points, keeping in mind of Dahlgren’s WTCC agenda that potentially could mean that he misses the last two STCC races,” said Alexander Murdzevski Schedvin, Head of Motorsport at Polestar.

STCC continues at Karlskoga on August 13-14th, a race not clashing with the WTCC, meaning that Dahlgren will be on the grid.
