Ginetta extends BTCC partnership for three more years

Ginetta has confirmed that it will continue to run alongside the British Touring Car Championship until at least the end of 2019 after agreeing a new three-year deal with series organiers TOCA.

The Ginetta Junior Championship will continue to run at all ten BTCC events with the Ginetta GT4 Supercup once again lining up as part of the support package at eight of the ten meetings.

The Ginetta GT5 Challenge will replace the Supercup at both Thruxton and Knockhill next season.

The new agreement extends what is already a long-standing partnership between the British manufacturer and the BTCC, with the Junior Championship having been part of the package since 2008; a year before the Ginetta G50 Cup – now the Supercup – also joined the fray.

“Ginetta is undoubtedly the biggest presence on the BTCC support bill and we very much enjoy seeing our Ginetta ladder, from Juniors and GT5 into SuperCup being a part of these weekends,” Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said. “On behalf of Ginetta, I am delighted to extend our partnership with TOCA for a further three years and look forward to seeing the championships continue to flourish as part of one of the UK’s finest motorsport packages.”

BTCC boss Alan Gow added that he was thrilled to extend the partnership; praising Ginetta’s ‘career ladder’ for aiding aspiring racers of the future.

“I am delighted Ginetta will remain part of the TOCA package for a further three years,” he said, “Not only do Ginetta bring two incredibly competitive and entertaining support series, but the Ginetta career ladder is a unique offering in British motorsport.

“It is fantastic to see drivers progress from the Ginetta Junior Championship into the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and beyond, including a number of former Ginetta drivers currently competing in the BTCC.”

Race winners Adam Morgan and Tom Ingram are amongst those drivers to have made their way into the BTCC through the Ginetta championships.
