Relaxed Andrew Jordan focused on victories

Andrew Jordan says he isn’t thinking about the overall title and is simply aiming to win when he hits the track at Brands Hatch this weekend for the BTCC finale.

Jordan sits 31 points off the championship lead in sixth spot heading into the final three races of the year, having closed in on the drivers ahead with a strong showing at Silverstone last time out.

That performance, which included a second win of the year, also helped Jordan to move 34 points clear of Motorbase team-mate Mat Jackson in the Indy standings – which the 27-year-old will now hope to wrap up for a third time.

“Even though there are two championship titles to consider, I feel relaxed about the weekend ahead and plan to just go out, enjoy myself and see what happens,” he said. “With a good lead in the points, the Independents’ championship is a more realistic goal this weekend and the main aim is to wrap up the title for the third time in my career, which would be a good way to end my first year with the team.

“It’ll be a big ask to win the overall crown from 31 points behind, but you can never say never in this game. We scored more points than anyone else at Silverstone and if we could pick up another big haul at Brands Hatch, and the drivers ahead run into trouble, then anything could still be possible.

“There is no pressure on me, and with confidence on a high after the results at Silverstone, I plan to get stuck in and fight hard for more victories. Then we just have to see where it leaves us when the chequered flag falls for the final time.”
