Audi confirms 90 RS 3 LMSs sold for its debut year

Audi Sport customer racing have confirmed that 90 of its brand new RS 3 LMS cars have been sold for competition around the world in various TCR and endurance series for 2017.

The new model, which shares many components with its siblings the SEAT León TCR and Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, will be present on the grids of the TCR International, Benelux, Scandinavia and Germany series this year, and has already raced in the opening rounds of both the TCR Asia and Middle East series.

STCC favourites PWR Racing are running an RS 3 for Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, alongside a SEAT León for championship favourite Robert Dahlgren.

While two-time champion Stefano Comini will defend his International Series title behind the wheel of one of the RS 3s for Comtoyou Racing. The German marque is also set to fight for top honours in the second year of the TCR Germany series, with four cars run by last year’s champions Target Competition.

“We are proud that the successful team of Andreas and Markus Gummerer will now defend their titles with Audi,” said Chris Reinke, head of Audi Sport customer racing. “In Germany and around the world, we have sold a total of 90 Audi RS 3 LMS cars to our customers. We all wish all of them the best.”
