Alfa Romeo loses its weight break, while Opel get one

The Alfa Romeo has lost its 10kg weight break in the latest Balance of Performance decision announced today by the TCR organisation, while the Opel Astra TCR has had its 40kg ballast reduced to 20kg.

The changes came into effect today, meaning the DG Sport Compétition Opel ran the new weight during qualifying in the TCR Benelux season opener at Spa-Francorchamps, where Mat’o Homola and Fred Caprasse took pole position.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR, which has been able to run at 20kg below base weight, effectively 40kg lighter than the Volkswagen Golf, 50kg lighter than the SEAT León TCR and 65kg lighter than the Audi RS 3, will now run at the standard base weight of 1,285kg at the next round of the TCR International Series at Spa in two weeks’ time.

The Giulietta will still benefit from its 10mm reduction in ride height however.
