Michela Cerruti proud of Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR’s success

Michela Cerruti will once again step down from driving for GE-Force in Spa-Francorchamps, much like she had done at the TCR International Series curtain raiser in Georgia.

This time the Italian, who played a major role in the development of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR, is unlikely to return behind the wheel soon, as the car she drove has been sold.

“I would have liked to drive, but the ultimate goal is to sell cars of course”, said Cerruti to TouringCarTimes. “I’ve been working on this project ever since its inception and I can only be proud of what we have achieved, both technically and commercially.”

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR has in fact become a commercial success after scoring two wins with GE-Force drivers Davit Kajaia and Dusan Borkovic: “Of course we had a phase of this project that was not easy to go through. The car suffered from teething problems, we often had little issues here and there which ended up hiding the potential of the car. I believe we have unlocked most of it now, and the car is successful both on and off the track. We actually ran out of cars to sell, so we will produce more and more as the season goes along.”

Cerruti revealed there are likely to be more than just two Giuliettas on the track next year: “We have a few interesting requests for the 2018 International Series, as well as some more requests from national and regional championships. I’m sure the success we had on track was crucial for this increase in terms of demand. People want to buy a winning car.”
