Gelleråsen Qualifying heats

It was the veteran Janne “Flash” Nilsson who took pole position for the second STCC-race of the season at Gelleråsen. Flash was fourth in the first qualifying heat and took a win in the second heat which gave him pole position.

Göransson made a phenomenal drive through the field to second place in the first heat after having started from 12th position. But in the second heat he started from third position but didn´t manage to advance.

It was a tough first heat with many close combats. Directly after the start Thed Björk was involved in an incident and spun. Thed was able to continu but with reduced speed. Mattias Anderssons run of bad luck continued when Tommy Rustad on the fourth lap made an overambitious move in the “Eje-corner”. Fourth position was taken by Tommy Kristoffersson which Audi wore clear signs of battle with a damaged front. Despite clear problems Kristoffersson didn´t let the Audi-team´s first pilot Fredrik Ekblom past who had to settle for fifth position.

In the second heat Edward Sandström had to retire already on the first lap after his front suspension collapsed in collision. Jan “Flash” Nilsson loved the rain and could take a comfortable victory in the second heat ahead of Fredrik Ekblom. Behind those two a hard battle for third position was going on between Göransson, Björkm, Stureson and Engström. But Göransson managed to keep his position and sequre a starting position on the front row for the main race.
