No Gotland Ring for STCC

There will not be a race held this year at the new Gotland Ring. The track was on the preliminary calendar for long but has now been scrapped due to unfinished work. The long lasting winter in Sweden is said to be one of the reason and the FIA inspection is not ready yet.

Instead the Norwegian track Våler will be used, just as last year.

– We had a plan to evaluate the situation in March. Gotland Ring is a fantastic track, but to arrange a STCC race there it must be FIA approved and then there still is alot of work and investments to be done. This winter has made it impossible to start the work in time, said Richard Schultz from STCC AB.

The ambition is get the track ready for STCC 2007.
