Test two at Knutstorp
The STCC season 2006 is go! The two first practice sessions are completed and next up is qualifying with the following super pole. Tomas Engström in his Honda Accord topped the last practice session.
Engström went around the short and twisty Knutstorp track in 1:01.530 which is almost 2 seconds faster than last year. Edward Sanström was second fastest in his Flash Engineering prepared BMW 320i. Thed Björk completed top three with his Audi A4, only 0.140 seconds behind Engström.
And the entire STCC-field is very evenly matched. 14 drivers were within the same second.
The tension in the pits is notice able for the upcoming qualifying. Several drivers and teams have expressed concerns about the 20 minutes of qualifying, that the track will be very crowded with little room for getting a clean lap. After the first 20 minutes of qualifying, top eight drivers will move on to super pole.
Audi-teamboss Tommy Kristoffersson said:
– It’s going to get hard to get a clean lap. We’ve only got 20 minutes and there are alot of cars.
The Audi’s took places three, twelve and fourteen during the practice.
– We still have some setting changes to make, we’re not quite there yet. But we have more to give, Kristoffersson continued.
Qualifying starts at 15.15 CET, be sure to check back then!
