Flash Engineering in trouble
Flash Engineering was one of the teams that suffered hard from the incidents at Mantorp Park yesterday. Team owner and driver Janne “Flash” Nilsson blew his brand new engine after an oil leak. For team mate Edward Sandström things went even worse.
Three cars came side by side in to the quick left at the backside of the track. Sandström collided with Johan Stureson which sent the BMW-driver spinning off backwards in to a embankment. At the moment of the collision Sandström was doing about 160 km/h and the car rolled several times before coming to a rest far from the track.
“This wasn’t good. Everything of value is destroyed on the car. I can’t remember anything from the crash,” a shaken but ok Sanström said after the race.
Göranssons victory was a small thing for the team. The total bill for this weekend exceeds 2.5 million swedish kronor (ca 250.000 EUR) and team manager Janne “Flash” Nilsson is worried if they can continue with three cars.
“This is a total catastrophe. I have raced in touring cars for long and I have at the most crashed things for 180.000 kronor (ca 18.000 EUR) in one weekend. I can’t see any good solution right now. If someone doesen’t get us about one million it will be tough,” a sad “Flash” said.
“It looks like either Sanström or I must step a side.”
