The STCC 2006 title race is on!
The STCC 2006 is coming to an end. There are two races left and we have three championship contenders – Thed Björk, Richard Göransson and Duncan Huisman. Dutchman Huisman was last to join the title battle after phantom drives through the field of the two previous races.
Huisman is currently third in the championship, 13 points behind Björk but only two points behind Richard Göransson who is second. With two races left there are still 20 points to be won.
“I feel in good shape, nothing can change that. I know now what it takes in the STCC, the tactics are set for the final two races. But we won’t play a foul game. And I won’t say more than that,” Huisman said to STCC.se.
The two remaining races will be tense. All three title contenders have team mates that will make all their efforts to help them. Huisman gets support from Rudholm, Göransson from Janne “Flash” Nilsson while Björk gets back up from both Ekblom and Kristoffersson.
“I have the best possible position, but I must go for victory. Things can happen quickly, just look at Anderstorp where I lost ten points to Göransson. Many might not want the championship to be over before the final race, but for me that would be perfect,” Björk said.
Last time STCC visited Knutstorp Björk won the race. This is something that Göransson will stop.
“This time I will get revenge. I have a goal and that is to defend my title,” Göransson said.
The battle for the STCC 2006 crown continues at Knutstorp Ring on the 10:th of September – TouringCarTimes will be on the scene!
