Björk can take the title at Knutstorp

Audi-driver Thed Björk has the chance to win the STCC 2006 during the coming weekend. The race is held at Knustorp in the south of Sweden, and last time the STCC was here Björk won. To this race Björk is carrying 60 kilos of penalty weight, but this is not something he is worried about.

“I have driven with alot of weight before and done well, it is just a matter of finding the perfect setup for the car. I would not mind settling the championship at Knutstorp,” Björk said.

Team boss Tommy Kristoffersson is full of confidence and believes that Björk will make a good job.

“Nothing seems impossible for Björk right now, he is full of confidence and has good memories from Knutstorp earlier this year,” Kristoffersson said.

The opposition for Björk will be as hard as ever. Björk have BMW-drivers Göransson and Huisman that also are in for a chance to take the tile. But Kristoffersson believes that the strong opposition from BMW can be a good thing.

“The individual prestige match within BMW, between Flash Engineering (Göransson) and West Coast Racing (Huisman) can favor us. There will be hard fights for the podiums between Göransson, Flash, that drives completely new cars and Huisman, Rudholm that drives cars from last year,” Kristoffersson said.

The strategy for the coming race is crystal clear for the team.

“STCC can be decided here and we have no other strategy but to qualify well and be ahead of Göransson and Huisman,” Kristoffersson continued.

“I have only Knutstorp in my mind now. I have driven the track in my mind several times and I will to everything to maximize the setup and give the team confidence. That is the only thing in my mind,” championship contender Björk said.
