New dampers for Flash Engineering
Flash Engineering will come to the penultimate round at Knutstorp with some news. Both cars will be fitted with brand new dampers from Öhlins and Göransson will get a sequential gerabox. The team is presently testing the new parts at Gelleråsen.
“We found out that the sequential gearbox worked like a charm for Nilsson. I have done a shake down with it and it feels great,” Göransson said.
But the new gearbox is not the only thing Flash Engineering is testing at Gelleråsen today. Both of the teams BMW 320si will be fitted with dampers from Öhlins. The dampers are taken forth via the IRL series in USA, developed further by Polestar Racing in the STCC and redesigned by Flash Engineering to suit rear wheel drive cars.
“These dampers are excellent. We are lapping two seconds quicker per lap in rain with these,” said team owner and driver Janne “Flash” Nilsson.
Öhlin president Kenth Öhlin is happy to be able to provide the new BMW’s with their dampers.
“We have had a long co-operation with Volvo and Flash Engineering (FE ran Volvo before). That worked very well and now we have managed to produce a damper that seems to fit the BMW’s very good. But testing is one thing, we will have to wait and see how they run in the race,” Öhlin said.
The ambition for the final two races is clear for Flash Engineering.
“We are of course looking to win both the team- and drivers-title. We are not competing in the STCC to fool around,” Nilsson continued.
“I have a mission this weekend and that is to win. Still the championship isn’t over. We will do everything to get ahead of Thed Björk and the others over the finisl line. I’m hoping that we will win both the two final races,” Göransson said.
