Hughes bullish for Brands

Dunlop MSA BTCC independent Jason Hughes is looking forward to Brands Hatch later this month (23/24 September) despite a frustrating outing at Knockhill recently.

The Kartworld RAC driver was well placed to challenge Matt Neal for the lead in race three, when fuel pressure problems intervened.

However, Hughes did manage a career-best fourth place in race two at the wheel of his bio-ethanol fuelled MG – the highest ever finish for a bio-ethanol powered car in the BTCC.

Had it not been for his mechanical failure, Hughes claims that he would have had no problems with taking on the current championship leader, and believes that his performance bodes well for Brands Hatch on 24 September.

“I’m really looking forward to Brands now – the circuit requires a similar set-up to Knockhill and we know that we’ve got a good car in those conditions,” he said. “Plus, the MG has always been strong at Brands – even with the old V6 engine in April we showed pretty well and we’ve come a long way since.”
