STCC changes rules after rumor

The STCC organization has decided to change a part of the rules regarding traction control after rumors that some teams have been using it. The rules of STCC clearly states that any form of traction control is forbidden. The new rule change prohibits the teams to link speed sensors on the wheels to the ECU of the engine.

It was after the race at Gelleråsen that the STCC organization decided to change the rules. Previously it was allowed to have a speed sensor on one of the wheels of propulsion. But no team has been caught using the speed sensor to any form of traction control.

“We haven’t caught any one using it. We said before the season that we could change this rule if we assume that any one is using it,” STCC press officer Mikael Sandberg said.

According to STCC technical director Johnny Haraldsson the rule change is made to stop any speculations that teams are using it.

“After Gelleråsen we decided to change the rules to stop the talk. Now the teams are unable to use the speed sensors with the ECU of the car during qualifying and race,” Haraldsson said.

The teams are still allowed to use it during practice to gain information for setups.
