Safety improved at Mantorp Park

Next weekend Mantorp Park will host the final STCC race of the year. Last time STCC visited the track Edward Sanström had a big crash which totaled his car for the remainder of the season. For this race the track owners have decided to rebuild the section around the corner where he crashed.

Edward crashed during the third race of the season and has not raced since then. He managed to survive the accident without any major injuries while his car is scrapped. His car rolled down in the so called “ravine”.

To avoid any similar accidents in that corner, the owners of Mantorp Park have decided to put up 100 meters of new armco, more tyre walls and a converyer-belt.

“Our aim is of course to prevent this type of accidents, but all the time look over the track and improve safety where it is needed. Sadly there was a weak point at the track which we have not seen, but this is fixed now,” Mantorp MD Christopher Moberg said.

Another new thing for the race is that there is 400 meters of new asphalt in “Mjölby-corner” and on the entry of “F2-corner”.
