Richard Göransson takes Mantorp pole
Richard Göransson made the most of his BMW 320si at Mantorp Park today during the qualifying. He took pole ahead of Robin Rudholm with only 0.06 seconds. Göransson’s championship rival Thed Björk took sixth position in his KMS prepared Audi A4. The two have four drivers in between them with Dahlgren third, Rosenblad fourth and Björk’s team mate Fredrik Ekblom fifth.
“It was an ok lap but not perfect. But obviously it was enough and I’m on pole. Totally awesome,” Göransson said with a big grin.
Second placed Robin Rudholm was fastest in the first qualifying session but failed to take pole with a very small margin.
“We’ve always had trouble getting enough temperature in the tyres during the super pole. But I’m very pleased to start from the front row and I will do everything possible to challenge Göransson for the win today,” Rudholm said.
Volvo-driver Robert Dahlgren was second during the first qualifying session and third in the super pole.
“I wanted to be on pole, of course. But this is ok and I will try to follow Rudholm past Göransson on the inside at the start,” Dahlgren said with a smile.
Current championship leader Thed Björk will start sixth.
“I didn’t have the grip from the first qualifying session that I wanted. But the lap was ok and I will fight hard for the race,” Björk said.
The race starts at 15.00 CET, stay tuned!
