Young drivers testing for Volvo
The three best drivers of STCC support class Volvo S60 Challenge had a test day for the Volvo STCC team. The drivers went through tests with the car on track, reaction tests and interviews with regular STCC-driver Robert Dahlgren. One driver was chosen for a drive in the final race of the Danish Touring Car Championship.
Andreas Simonsen, Andreas Ebbeson and Mikael Granberg were present on the test. Polestar team boss Christian Dahl watched over the test.
“During the day we are evaluating which driver will fit best as STCC-driver. Mainly it is about analyzing the car and communicating with the engineers,” Dahl said to teknikensvarld.se.
When the rainy test day at Anderstorp was over Volvo decided to go for the S60 Challenge champion and rookie – 17-year old Andreas Simonsen. He is going to drive a Volvo S60 in the final DTC race at Jylland Ring on the 15:th of October.
“I was very nervous before the test, but now it is going to be a really exciting experience to drive a real STCC-car with known drivers such as Pontus Mörth and Jens Edman.
