Simonssen leaves Mercedes

Hans Simonsson will not continue driving for Tobias Johansson’s Mercedes team next year. Simonsen is looking at other options while Johansson is looking for a junior for the second seat.
“We are looking at four drivers for the moment. Two previous STCC-drivers and two juniors that already have tested for us,” Johansson said to Dala-Demokraten.

Andreas Simonsen tested for the team, as we reported earlier, with good results. The other junior that tested for the team was Jocke Ahlberg who drove JTCC (a STCC support class) this season.

“Simonsen only got to do about ten labs before the rain started to fall. But he did well. Ahlberg is going to test further this weekend at Gelleråsen, if the weather allows it. I know where the other two drivers that are interesting for us stand,” Johansson said.
