Polestar extends development

Recently Volvo announced that they are continuing their STCC-programme for 2007. New for this year is that Polestar Racing takes over the engine development which previously has been divided by several different companies.
“This is an important part in our programme to be able to have a successful season,” team boss Christian Dahl said.

Polestar will be responsible for development, production and service for the engines. The knowledge and infrastructure from Volvo will be avaliable for the programme, just as before.

For the extended programme Polestar has during the autumn built their own engine department within the company. All the competence and equipment required is there. Most noticeable is the engine dyno where the engines will be run to be optimized and to confirm the performance, a piece that weighs over 30 tonnes.

Jan Andersson, technical director of Polestar, is happy with the new programme.
“We will be able to get continuity and control over the different stages, development, planning and the final product. Right now we are going through a build-up faze with a lot of work to do, but in the end of January everything will be in place and we can focus totally on the coming season.”

Three persons will be working on the engine department.
“We have secured the organisation we feel most fit for the assignment. Beside the personnel at Polestar it also involves persons at Volvo and in the delivery process,” Christian Dahl said.
