Tommy Rustad back with Opel

Previous STCC-champion and BTCC independents champion Tommy Rustad is back in the STCC. The Norwegian re-joins Opel Team Sweden.
“The goal is clear – to fight for top three in the championship and in the races. I always drive to win,” Rustad said.

Rustad drove three years for Opel in the STCC, 2003 to 2005. Last season how ever he drove the European Rallycross Championship in a Ford Focus.

“We are very pleased to have Tommy back in the Opel-team. We have missed him and it feels good that he wanted to return to us. We had a struggling season in 2006 and that is not where we want to be. It feels like we have everything in place with Tommy and a car that we have great confidence in,” said Anders Warnestad from Opel Team Sweden.

The Opel Astra has been upgraded during the off-season. The chassis, engine, dampers and aerodynamics are redone.

“This is a car that we most certainly should do very well with. The competition is very hard, I know that. But with the package that Opel has presented I feel very confident,” Rustad said.
