Dahlgren wins STCC 2007 premiere!

Robert Dahlgren took the first STCC victory of 2007. The Volvo-man won the race ahead of Janne “Flash” Nilsson and Johan Stureson. “Fantastic! In 2004 I was the first rookie to take pole position and win. Now I am the first driver to win with bio-ethanol in STCC,” a very happy Dahlgren said.

Dahlgren won the race from pole position but was close to loose his lead after the pitstops. Fredrik Ekblom came out along side him after a quick pitstop. But Ekblom had to settle with second after a short battle with Dahlgren. Instead Ekblom was reeled in by Janne “Flash” Nilsson. Though there was never a fight between the two as Ekblom lost a tyre and had to pit once again. Flash was over the moon, taking his first podium since 2004.

“Great! It was a hard race, but my pitstop was great and I was able to take Engström and Stureson thanks to that,” Flash said.

The Audi-team had a black day. Both Stippler and Björk had to start from the back of the grid. On Stippler’s car the team forgot to change to correct tyres when going out to the gird and Björk’s car did not have enough fuel. Since no work is allowed while the cars are on the grid, the penalty was issued.
